Call for Papers for A Special Track of W070
CIB W070 will be hosting a special track on the theme of
‘Think global, act local: the FM challenge'
within the CIB World Congress 2010. Facilities management solutions for global corporate organisations are often accused of being 'vanilla' solutions with little consideration of inclusivity, ethnic diversity and differing cultural needs. This is compounded by efforts by corporate real estate and FM teams to impose global standards. In this special track we consider the current research activity on space planning, regulatory standards, design solutions and participatory models that are affected by the local context. We encourage submissions that deal with prevailing current best practice, evidence based research and case studies which touch on this issue.
Topics
Topics included in the special track include:
• Benchmarking and international comparisons
• Environment-behaviour issues related to space use
• Environment-behaviour issues related to design solutions (including interior design)
• Alternative international planning approaches and constraints
• Sector specific issues (schools, hospitals, public buildings)
• Alternative international procurement and sourcing models (e.g. PPP; sale and leaseback)
