Job Title:
Senior Fieldwork Manager.
Reports to:
Managing Director.
Working Hours:
Full time (flexible working hours requests will be considered in line with government regulations).
Location:
99% remote working from anywhere in the UK, with quarterly team days and events predominantly in the Welsh Borders, London and in other UK locations. Will involve some travel with notice provided.
Benefits:
25 days holiday per annum (excluding bank holidays). Discretionary bonuses (dependent on company and individual performances). NEST Pension (5% employee and 3% employer contributions).
FieldMouse is looking for a new Senior Fieldwork Manager to join our busy and fast-growing team.
Key roles and responsibilities with skills required
Managing market research participant recruitment projects from start to finish. This will involve:
Providing regular updates to clients.
Tracking multiple quotas to ensure projects are recruited on spec and on time.
Communicating clearly with participants to ensure attendance throughout fieldwork.
Some evening work may be required, for example to support participants in joining an online focus group.
On larger projects, managing one or more Fieldwork Assistants (on smaller projects, doing everything yourself).
Providing cover for the Managing Director and Fieldwork Director in their absence.
Communicating directly with clients, building client relationships and growing accounts.
Writing proposals and responding to client RFQs.
Representing the company at external events, this will include attending industry and community events.
Sourcing and screening participants in the UK to take part in our clients’ qualitative market and social research.
Although FieldMouse has a large nationwide panel of participants ready to screen, this role also requires a strong ability to think laterally and creatively about how to find ‘hard to reach’ participants such as the digitally excluded and financially vulnerable.
Extensive personal and/or professional networks would be a big asset – we need the type of person whose friends say, “they know everyone!”
However equally we need someone who is not afraid to pick up the phone and speak to a small charity or business on the other side of the country to ask for help in finding participants.
Project Management.
Essential/Desirable
Experience in the fieldwork/operations sector within market research is essential.
Previous management experience is desirable but not essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as is proficiency in Microsoft Office and being a team player.
You must have an interest in rural issues and be committed to FieldMouse’s social purpose of ensuring the fair representation of rural voices in market research.
A UK driving licence would be desirable. Mileage and train expenses will be covered by the company.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of qualitative fieldwork recruitment, ensuring that it is in line with the organisation’s objectives and client’s goals. You will be working closely with clients; developing business and will be involved in costing and writing proposals. You will ideally have 5+ years’ experience in qualitative research recruitment/fieldwork operations; however, we will consider candidates with demonstrably transferable skills and experience.
This is a full-time role (5 days/35 hours per week, excluding lunch) however for the right candidate we can be flexible and offer a four-day week/28 hours per week – we are open to discussing any other arrangements. We support our employees with their work life balance.
Our Organisation
FieldMouse is a fieldwork agency specialising in qualitative recruitment. We champion the fair representation of rural, regional and rarely heard voices in all market research. Our core fieldwork team is based between Wales, West Sussex and South Yorkshire and we have a national network of field agents embedded in their rural communities – from the Scottish Highlands to the Cornish coast.
